I love Muse's music but, with a few exceptions, their later lyrics make me enjoy the music less if I think too hard about them. Which is made worse by WAFF at the end of the album, because following song after song of vague references to non-specific problems in the world he basically just goes "well none of that matters anyway and we're all doomed". He loves to use the imagery and aesthetics of revolution in an incredibly banal and non-committal way, but he won't ever talk about any of the actual problems in the world. WotP could just as easily be interpreted to be pro-Jan 6 insurrection as it could pro-communist revolution or anything in between. One of my least favourite things about many of Bellamy's lyrics in the latter half of their career is that they are "political" on the surface but don't say anything with actual substance. Like many of Muse's songs it's about very vague political themes but without ever saying anything interesting.
